Questions about Himalayan Black Tea

What is Himalayan Black Tea?

Himalayan Black Tea is a whole-leaf black tea from Swachh Tea, grown high in the Himalayan hills. Smooth and rounded, with a warm finish. Brew it at 95°C for 3 to 4 minutes, without milk. A 100g pack makes about 50 cups, at about ₹5.4 a cup.

What does Himalayan Black Tea taste like?

Smooth and rounded, with a warm finish, in a copper cup. Body: full. Strength: medium. Aroma: fragrant. Best for: Black tea on its own, without the weight of Assam.

How do I brew Himalayan Black Tea?

Use 2g of leaf, about a heaped teaspoon, for a 150 to 200ml cup. Heat the water to 95°C. No thermometer? Boil the water, then wait about 30 seconds. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes, covered, then strain. Try it without milk first. It's smoother than Assam, and the warm finish comes through best on its own.

Can I add milk to Himalayan Black Tea?

You can, but it is best on its own. Himalayan Black Tea is smooth rather than strong, and milk hides its warm finish. If you like milk in your tea, try Assam Black Tea.

Can I reuse the leaves?

Yes. The same leaf gives a lighter second cup. Steep it a minute longer the second time.

How many cups does a 100g pack make?

About 50 cups, at 2g of leaf a cup, so the tea in each cup costs about ₹5.4.

Does Himalayan Black Tea have caffeine?

Yes. All true tea, whether white, green or black, contains caffeine. How much depends on how much leaf you use and how long you steep it.

Should I choose Assam or Himalayan black tea?

Assam is bold and malty, and strong enough to take milk, like a breakfast tea. Himalayan black is smoother and rounder, and best on its own. If you drink your tea with milk, choose Assam.

How should I store Himalayan Black Tea?

Keep it in an airtight container away from light, heat, moisture and strong smells such as spices, because leaf tea soaks up aromas easily.

Is cash on delivery available, and how fast is delivery?

Yes. Cash on delivery is available across India for a small fee, shown at checkout, and we confirm every cash on delivery order with you by phone or WhatsApp before it ships. Orders are dispatched from Siliguri within 24 hours and usually arrive in 3 to 7 days. Shipping is free on every order.
