About Swachh Tea

Our story

Our family has been in the tea trade for 35+ years: buying loose tea, broking it and blending it in Siliguri, the town the Assam and Dooars tea trade runs through. That business is Palak Tea Co., and it still supplies cafés, hotels, distributors and other tea brands across India.

In 2020 we started Swachh Tea to sell the same teas directly to homes. Most tea brands buy their tea from businesses like ours and add their margin. When you buy Swachh, you get the same teas we supply to the trade, with no middleman in between.

Every lot is tasted three times before it's bought: as a garden sample, when it's offered, and once more before purchase. Then it's packed in Siliguri, with the packing date printed on every pouch.

From our founder

I'm Rahul Jhawar, a chartered accountant and the managing partner of Palak Tea Co. Travelling across India, I kept noticing how hard it is to find good tea, even from the biggest brands, at the prices they charge. That is a big reason so many people think of tea as a lesser drink than coffee.

Swachh Tea is how we're changing that: the tea our trade buyers get, packed for your kitchen and sent to every corner of the country. Nothing goes into your cup that hasn't already been in mine.
